It’s a national first-grade museum, China’s only temple where the king and ministers are worshipped together and the most famous monumental place for ZHUGE Liang, LIU Bei and heroes of Shu. Also, it’s the Three Kingdoms relic museum with the greatest influence around the world. It originated in 223 AD when the Hui Tomb of LIU Bei was constructed. In 1984, Chengdu Wuhouci Museum was established, and was divided into three parts: Three Kingdoms Historical Site Area, Jinli Folk Customs Area and Three Kingdoms Cultural Experience Area with an area of 230 mu (150,000 square meters). The main part of Chengdu Wuhouci includes the front gate, second gate, LIU Bei’s Palace, hallway and Wuhouci Wuchong which are strictly aligned from south to north on the same central axis. On the west side is LIU Bei’s cemetery and related buildings. The second gate, LIU Bei’s Palace, east and west palaces, the hallway, ZHU Geliang’s Palace and east and west wings form two groups of quadrangle structures. Chengdu Wuhouci, situated in the south of the downtown, occupies an area of 150,000 square meters, with three major parts including Three Kingdoms Historical Site Area, Three Kingdoms Cultural Experience Area and Jinli Folk Customs Area. It is the most renowned monumental place for ZHUGE Liang and LIU Bei, and the largest museum for relics of the Three Kingdoms. It was built in 223 AD when LIU Bei’s mausoleum was constructed and was destroyed during wars in the late Ming Dynasty. Except the Hui Tomb, existing buildings were repaired in the 11th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1672 AD). In the temple, 50 statues of Shu figures are consecrated, including those of LIU Bei and ZHUGE Liang, and are of great cultural value and ornamental value. On the northeast side and west side of ancient building clusters are respectively Jinli Folk Customs Area and Three Kingdoms Cultural Experience Area.
