Xiling Snow Mountain Scenic Spot is the habitat for giant pandas in Sichuan, one of the world’s natural heritages, China’s key scenic spot and a national forest park. It’s located in Dayi County in the west of Sichuan Basin, 100km from Chengdu downtown, with a total area of 375 square kilometers. It is named after the poem written by Du Fu, the great poet of the Tang Dynasty, “My window frames the snow-crowned western mountain scene; My door oft says to eastward-going ships ‘Goodbye!’”. Now the scenic spot has established a four-season tourism pattern: cuckoo appreciation in spring; avoidance of summer heat in summer; red leaves appreciation in autumn and skiing in winter. The scenic spot is divided into Dafeishui Resort and Ski Resort. The former focuses on sightseeing on foot while the latter features characteristic snow (grassland) sports and recreation projects. More than 20 mountain sports are designed for winter and summer. Besides, tourists can take a cable car to Riyueping to visit the Yin-Yang Boundary, Daxuetang, Chengdu’s greatest peak and other natural landscapes such as Shining Sun and Moon and the Sea of Clouds.
