The music for The Dream of Red Mansions 1987 TV Series is a monument in China’s folk music creation history. The drama has a deep origin in Chengdu as many of its actors are from Chengdu. WU Bixia, the well-known lyric coloratura soprano singer, composer WANG Liping (representative works include The Dream of Red Mansions, Song of Shepherd and Great Sea ,My Sweet Home), conductor ZHANG Lie and national level-one actor TONG Fan will work together to present the masterpiece The Dream of Red Mansions Theme Concert. It will include more than ten solos, ensemble preludes and suites such as A Lovesick Knitted Brow in Vain, Song of Flower-Burial and The Dream of Red Mansions so a fascinating show of folk music will be performed for The Dream of Red Mansions fans and music fans.

National level one actor and China’s Plum Performance Award winner ZHAO Qing serves as the general director; national level one composer and deputy chairman of Provincial Musicians’ Association PENG Tao takes charge of arrangement; and more than 150 little performers participate in the show. The 90-minute-performance covers ethnic dances of Han, Tibet, Qiang and Yi in four chapters, thus fully manifesting the inheritance and innovation of folk music among the young generation of Chengdu.
