Huanglongxi Ancient Town, governed by Shuangliu County, has seven villages and one community residents committee with an area of 50.4 square kilometers and a population of 28,000. The ancient town is situated in the southwest of Shuangliu County, the intersection of three counties (Shuangliu, Pengshan and Xinjin), surrounded by two rivers (Fuhe River and Luxi River), and opposite to Muma Mountain and Er’e Mountain across the river. It boasts a long history and abundant cultural relics. According to historical materials, Huanglongxi Ancient Town was once the last military post of the ancient Shu Kingdom. In 316 BC, the last king of Shu fought the final battle here. In the 24th year of Jian’an of the Eastern Han Dynasty (219 AD), “a yellow dragon is present in Chishui River of Wuyang (currently Luxi River) for nine days”, which is why it’s called Huanglongxi. Eight hundred ministers including ZHUGE Liang suggested to LIU Bei based on this sign and LIU ascended the throne. Therefore, the regime of Shuhan was established. On his southern expedition, ZHUGE Liang stationed troops and raised horses here. Since then, Huanglongxi had witnessed increasing prosperity.
