Du Fu Thatched Cottage is the former residence of Du Fu in Chengdu who lived here for about four years and created more than a hundred poems, being lauded as the “holy place” of China’s literary history. Today’s Du Fu Thatched Cottage has gone through multiple repairs in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. In the yard, there are a great number of pavilions and towering ancient trees, and main scenic spots include Daxie, Poetry History Hall and Gongbuci, etc. Besides, “Du Fu’s Poem and Calligraphy Wood Carving Corridor” was set up in 1999 to display more than a hundred poems and calligraphy works of Du Fu. The former thatched cottage of Du Fu was re-constructed with reference to the characteristics of dwellings in West Sichuan and now it has become a landmark view of Du Fu Thatched Cottage.
